Swim cutoff: 30 minutes from wave start. We will have more than a dozen lifeguards in the water and on land. If you have any trouble during the swim, take off your swim cap and wave it in the air.

BIKE: (Note, gmap pedometer is not an exact measurement) 12.5 mile bike takes you downhill for the first 1.5 miles, exiting Mountain Lake Camp and following Curtiss Rd to Rte 45. Making a right on Rte 45, you then follow the flat road around the Lake. As you make your way back towards Rte 45, you will then make a LEFT onto Strawberry Ridge Rd. This is a short, steep climb, that levels off. You then make a LEFT on Curtiss Rd and follow back up to Mountain Lake and the camp.

RUN: 3.1 mile run takes you around the lovely grounds of Mountain Lake Camp. The first mile is cross-country style on cut lawn and a short dirt-road section. You then do a short and flat out and back on Mountain Lake Rd (Turn around is just before intersection w/ Curtiss Rd).
*Please do not visit camp before race day and time, this is a private facility and we would like to continue to use it for many years to come. If you would like to do a practice swim, we suggest Lake Waramaug State Park*

Temps

Hey there! Sorry for the delay in response! I didn't see your comment until just now!

Water temps have been wetsuit legal every year. Temps are usually in the low to mid 70's - so it is comfortable and safe to swim with or without a wetsuit.

Green Initiatives

Hi Alex! Thanks for writing - our races strive to be (and for the past 2 years have been) Carbon Neutral and Sustainable - sending nothing to landfills.

We reuse, recycle and compost all materials.

We utilize eco-friendly portable toilets and toilet paper. We use recycled bags and tote bags for our athlete information. We only partner with sponsors that meet our green criteria - the only pamphlets given out are those printed on recycled paper with vegetable ink.

The list goes on, eco-friendly t-shirts, hydro-electric power sources, and more.

If you'd like to learn more, you may contact Bruce Raynor of www.Afitplanet.com

Hi, I was wondering what you're doing to make your race eco-friendly? I'm sorry if you have this information posted somewhere, I'm just having trouble finding it.

Thanks!
